I had this project going for quite a while and I basically just finished it. It is based on the SG shape except I gave it some minor changes to the body and made it with a bolt on neck. Everything that is wood was made from scratch. I made the neck, fingerboard, headstock veneer, "R" inlay, and body all from wood I had lying around. The neck and body are mahogany and the fingerboard and headstock veneer are chechen. The inlay is just a small slice of quilted maple. The guitar is finished with minwax tung oil because I didnt want to go thru the hassle of buying all the supplies to use lacquer. I didnt fill the grain, but it came out decent. I got impatient and had to string it up!!! I used waverly tuners, bone nut, schaller roller bridge (because the width can be adjusted), and GFS bigmouth and loudmouth pickups. I know nothing about fretting so I have to lightly adjust the upper frets some but all in all I think it has a great sound and plays great also. I now need to make knobs for the pots. Here is a link to a video of it, its just a little dark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYjJxlWbSNE

thanks Haunted..I'm very impatient and also not good with certain joinery. There is this one guy who builds and his joints and repair splices are so tight that it looks as if he just drew lines with a pencil.
