Hey kukulcanenator!

Very interesting schematic, I'm focusing on the Baxandall Tone Stack, it seems to be a good variation of the lite one I knew.
Gonna check that!

Thanks!

watch out on the carvin schematics at there looks to be some missing section on the power supply coupling, as the schematic stands it will probably scream like hell!!

The general preamp and tonestack looks ok but take the powersupply to those preamps with a pinch of salt.

I noticed the different tonestack too, looks to be a lot of tone shaping in the preamp...

Usually when you see extra caps in the pre-amp like on the plates its there to keep a high gain amp stable. You will see this on other high gain amps too.

I am thinking of converting a 2xEL84 amp I have into a miniJCM. The transformers are Hammond 270DX and 1608. They are very similar to those posted on this site, but are slightly different. One difference is that I do not have a center tap, while the Transformer that was listed does.

Will that be a problem? Will these transformers be acceptable substitutes? I can post the specs if anyone would want to see them (don't have them with me at the moment).

Thanks,

Rich

Some times these have more than one CT, on the heaters then one on the HV. Notice that in my layout for the mini I forgot to show the HV CT.... egads
On the heaters we do not use the CT instead we make an artificial one with 2-100 ohm resistors. Some Fenders use 2-47 ohm.

I think you can get away with it, BUT you should plug in some data here, then compare the specs.

Sorry for the delay on your post here, I thought I would be notified but I found it by accident.

Thanks! I've built a couple:

This one 2 x EL84, 2 x 12AX7 -
http://ozvalveamps.elands.com/ava100/av ... ington.htm - interesting design using voltage multiplier to generate HT from 2 x low cost 30Volt transformers. Sounds great too.

and the 5 Watt Champ clone kit from evatco.com.au
